iPod Nano 3g Review : my 4 gb nano

If you have lived on the moon for the past millennium you may not have heard about the iPod trend or in fact of the iPod Nano itself. So I'll start from the beginning

The iPod nano is not just an mp3 player it is a media player this means that it can view videos play games view text files view electronic business cards. It is as the professionals call it a portable media player. The iPod nano is Apple’s mid range media player for people on the move. The iPod 4 gb nano is favoured by runners for its size price capacity and solid state memory which means that you can drop the iPod 4 gb nano and apart from facial damage the internals should be still working. Compare the 4 gb nano to the iPod video that has an actual hard drive any high impact damage could break vital parts of the hard drive and all this put to one side the iPod video is a larger media player. Which wouldn’t be suitable for sports.

The main features of the new iPod Nano are as follows.

The only criticisms i would have of the iPod Nano is that they dont support firewire synchronization. As firewire is a major playing in the connection world. Alot of the Third party older nano accessorise dont work with this new iPod nano. The obvious comes to mind i.e the size difference but unknown is alot of the third party connectors wont work with this new model, this should change over time.

On the plus side website Ars Technica has tested the new iPod nano to the extreme. Like dropping it from a speeding car several times, sitting on the iPod 4 gb nano. Dropping it from a height of 4 feet onto concrete. Though the screen was heavily damaged the nano still played. It finally took a drop of 40 feet onto concrete to damage the iPod 4 gb nano beyond playability.

On launch of the new iPod 4 gb Nano there was an overwhelming response to it. It sold 1 million units in only 17 days. This is an incredible turn around for a company that was once struggling to keep its head above water.

The moral of this story is that I would definitely recommend buying an iPod 4 gb nano as it is a very versatile portable media player. It has everything you need and also it’s a perfect size for all occasions.
